Mission and objectives:
The Cruces University Hospital Library, specialised in health sciences, has the primary objective of providing the centre´s employees with the scientific and technical information they may require in order to perform their treatment, teaching and research activities.
As a service of the hospital, the library selects, describes, organises, distributes and preserves information to create knowledge.
This organised technical information constitutes the collection of resources, that in various formats, are made available to personnel in order to facilitate access to quality and accredited scientific information.

Pharmacy databases
DIFT contains the complete monograph text of the AHFS Drug Information and the Handbook on Injectable Drugs. DIFT also provides detailed information of each drug available in the United States, including investigative drugs, intravenous infusions and commercial pharmaceuticals. It includes data about concentration, use, stability, pH, dosification, administration, compatibility, chemistry, pharmacology, interactions and toxicity.
IDIS/WEB is a database that indexes articles about medications and treating humans with medications, from about 200 journals in the fields of general and internal medicine and pharmacy. The complete article is also available online (from 1997 until the current month).
Thomson MICROMEDEX publishes databases and tools that support clinical decision making. MICROMEDEX® Healthcare Series provides a wide array of databases customized to meet the needs of health professionals, including information about pharmaceuticals, intensive cares, toxicology and patient education. It also includes information related to complementary and alternative medicine, toxicological and environmental information and access to Martindale: The Complete Drug Reference.
International Pharmaceutical Abstracts is a database created by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and includes information from more than 750 international journals of pharmaceutical, medical and related subject matter, published since 1970. Examples of titles included are: America's Pharmacist (USA), American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy (USA), British Medical Journal (UK), Clinical Drug Investigation (New Zealand), Clinical Pharmacokinetics (New Zealand), International Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (Germany), International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding (USA), International Journal of Pharmaceutics (Holland), etc. Specific characteristics of the clinical study summaries include the design of the study, number of patients, posology, dosification types and programme.
Journals.
Access to the health sciences journals that constitute the basic collection of the Osakidetza Basque Health Service.
This collection is made up of the most representative publication titles corresponding to all the health specialties.
These electronic resources are available to all the Osakidetza-Services professionals, providing complete texts as well as archived material.
Books.
Basic collection of electronic books (complete texts).
The book loan period is from Friday to Monday. Maximum 3 items. Journals, reference works and other special materials are excluded. It is required to present the reader´s ID card.
The Library Service guides and informs users about the best way to perform bibliographic
enquiries so they may use the bibliographic and documental resources in a more efficient
and selective manner.
